Audi has kicked off 2014 with the unveiling of an updated version of its Sport quattro concept car -- as first revealed at last year's Frankfurt motor show. Set to underpin the German carmaker's stand at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the latest incarnation of the bullish-looking two-door coupe showcases distinctively styled matrix LED headlamps with new laser light technology that, Audi officials suggest, will soon begin appearing on regular production models as a high-cost option. Already confirmed for the Audi R18 that will compete at the Le Mans 24-hour race later this year, the new headlamps use matrix LEDs and an aperture mask for low-beam mode.
Cosworth promise power upgrades for the FA 20 engine
Ever since the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ arrived as ‘affordable’ sports cars with a focus on the dynamics rather than outright power, there’s been endless claims and rumours that more power is on the way. As far back as 2011, Subaru in the US confirmed that a turbo version of the BRZ’s 2.0 litre FA20 Boxer engine was under development although, to be fair, they didn’t say it was actually heading for the BRZ. And just last year, Subaru teased what we thought could be a more powerful BRZ STI, but that turned out to be a BRZ tS with go faster bits but no more actual power.

The second variant of the new C-Class – the 2015 Mercedes C-Class Estate – was revealed last month offering proper load-lugging abilities together with the C-Class’s mini S-Class goodness. Now, with the new C-Class Estate due to arrive in the UK in September, Mercedes has revealed prices and specs for the initial launch range. Just three versions will be available at launch – the C 200, C 220 BlueTec and C 250 BlueTec – with the C 220 and C 250 sharing different power versions of Mercedes’ 2.1 litre diesel and the C 200 getting the 2.0 litre petrol.
